Individual class pages: choose your class's color

Why use a blog?

This blog is designed to get everyone talking, thinking, discussing, and reflecting about both in and out of class topics. We are fortunate enough to work in a school system that encourages us to use technology to enhance our learning experience and this blog will help us do that. Too often in our class we run into problems, such as running out of time to discuss topics in more detail, not getting every student (even you shy ones) to participate, and not getting a chance to go beyond the book and the curriculum to discuss more personal topics and interesting discoveries.

This blog will allow us to continue learning outside of the school and to keep our thoughts flowing. Not only will we get to explore the material further, but you all will get a chance to explore the world of blogging and online communities. Also, I hope that through your participation and feedback, I will find new ways to adjust my teaching and assignments to better suit all of our learning needs.

The assignments on this blog will vary from personal responses, to graded assessments, to brainstorming and fact gathering activities.

We are a community of learners and I hope that this interactive blog will assist us in working as a team and allow us to confidently depend on each other for insight, assistance, inspiration, and knowledge.

On this site you can also find other helpful links, such as links for grammar help and writing resources. There is also a list of books I have read and enjoyed. These resources are at the bottom of the home page.
